Friday, April 29th marks a moment for Dead Heads and JamGrass fans alike as Colorado’s Americana supergroup, Coral Creek, strums main support for the John Kadlecik Band at the Oriental Theater. Kadlecik is known for his involvement with Further, Phil Lesh & Friends, as well as his own project, Dark Star Orchestra. Quickly gaining traction in the circuit, Coral Creek has announced a number of festival slots for the summer and recently released their debut album.
Led by founding member and chief songwriter, Chris Thompson, Coral Creek seizes center stage with beautifully written compositions and storylines reminiscent of John Prine and Robert Hunter. Previously produced by Bill Nershi of the String Cheese Incident, Thompson’s playing is stylistically blazing new trails inspired by guitar heroes Jerry Garcia and Tony Rice. Coral Creek is a Colorado band with members deeply rooted in the jam grass bluegrass sound. The Coral Creek band members are Chris Thompson (guitar/vocals), Bill McKay (keyboard/vocals), Rob Garland (bass) and Jack Watson (drums). Read more about Coral Creek here.
John Kadlecik will bring his new band back to Colorado for the second time this month, after performing at the Belly Up in Aspen on April 13th.
Kadlecik, who last toured through the area as a solo act has assembled a group of musicians that are certain to get your body in motion. The John Kadlecik Band features Klyph Black on bass and vocals, Nathan Graham on drums, Waynard Scheller on keys.
Kadlecik, has spent much time with his bands and projects on the eastern seaboard, so many fans are delighted to see him bring another group of musicians out west to share in the music that he once described as “Grateful Dead stuff, his stuff and quirky fun stuff.” In fact in previous Denver-Boulder visits he has taken request from the audience.
Kadlecik starts this leg of his Colorado shows Thursday at Hodi’s Half Note, in Fort Collins, continuing on to the Oriental Theater on Friday eve, and then, for the first time ever, with any of his projects, performing at the Fox Theatre in Boulder on Saturday, April 30th. Having followed John Kadlecik’s various projects from the Dark Star Orchestra days, and being delighted and entertained with every one of his visits to Colorado I am very excited for a new set of shows with the new group. Kadlecik’s Colorado fans have learned that with ticket prices starting at $17 – $20, any of his performances provide the best entertainment for the money. I will see you at the shows.
